Consumer health data notice

Last updated October 29, 2026.

Some of what you tell Honest Dinner so we can plan your meals may count as "consumer health data" under some state laws. This page says what that is, why we use it, who sees it, and what you can do about it. It adds to our privacy policy. Honest Dinner is run by Patrick Durkin in New York; write to patrick@honestdinner.com.

What we collect

Only what you choose to tell us, for the people at your table:

We ask for limits, never medical conditions or diagnoses.

Why we use it

To check every recipe against your family's allergies and eating styles, to plan the week under the limits you set, to show you your own numbers, and to add food-safety warnings where they matter. Nothing else. It is never used for advertising.

Who sees it

Your yes

We ask before we collect it: the first screen of sign-up says what we send to Anthropic and why (your food needs, allergies, limits and tastes, your store's deals, and the photos, questions, recipe cards and reports you send us), and that tapping Agree is your consent, as Washington's and Nevada's health-data laws ask, to collect what you tell us about allergies and limits and share it with Anthropic for that. Nothing is collected until you tap Agree. You can take your yes back any time by deleting your family's data, or by emailing us. Without it we can't check recipes for your family, so the app stops planning for you.

Your rights

We answer within 30 days. If we say no to a request, reply to that email to appeal and a person will look again; if you're still unhappy, you can contact your state's attorney general.
